Drunks Riot in Chabad Yeshiva

Two drunks stormed the dormitory of the Chabad Yeshiva in the Israeli city of Haifa, stopping just short of physically hurting any of the bochurim.

A little after 1 AM on Motzoei Shabbos two Russian speaking men began throwing stones at the Yeshiva building on Arlozorov street, thinking that calls for them to be quiet came from there.

The two had been drinking loudly in the nearby park “Gan Binyomin” and were repeatedly asked to keep silent by neighbors.

They shattered three of the windows of the Yeshiva learning hall “Zal,” as two bochurim were cleaning and gathering the books.

The bochurim immediately called the Haifa police.

For the next 15 minutes, the men held what some students called a pogrom; throwing chairs, breaking furniture, and sheetrock walls, all while cursing in Russian.

They were not able to enter the Yeshiva itself.

“We hurried to wake up the bochurim who were still sleeping and rush them out so they don’t get hurt,” one of the students told COLlive.com

The police arrived a full twenty minutes after the incident was reported. By that time the two drunk men had already left the premises.

When asked why they took so long to respond, one of the officers responded, “say thank you we even came.”
