A much-needed renovation of the F.R.E.E. center in Brighton Beach began recently, thanks to the generous support of the local Russian Jewish Community.
The roof has been leaking for many years and was causing a lot of damage to the interior of the Shul. At a recent Bar Mitzvah held in the Shul one of the guests undertook to sponsor the renovation of the roof as well as waterproofing the walls of the Shul. Inspired by this, more members of the community got together and the interior of the Shul is also being renovated. The final touch ups will be finished after the Yomim Tovim.
F.R.E.E. of Brighton Beach is a satellite branch of Friends of Refugees of Eastern Europe (F.R.E.E.), headquartered in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
F.R.E.E. of Brighton Beach, directed by Rabbi Hershel Okonov, serves the Russian speaking community with programs like Daily Minyinom, Mazel Day care/Day School, Hebrew School, Bar/Bat Mitzvos, Daily Shiurim, Teen Clubs, the M* Generation choir and much more.
