The story of the brothers Ariel and Elchanan Groner, two right-wing activists in Israel, may sound like a comic skit, but is totally true.
In the coming months the two won’t be able to meet in person because of a restraining order from the District Court in Jerusalem.
The Religious Zionist brothers are the nephews of Rabbi Leibel Groner of Brooklyn, who served as the Rebbe’s secretary.
In the beginning of the week Ariel Groner was prohibited from crossing the Green Line to enter the West Bank territory, claiming fears he will “stir controversy.”
His brother Elchanan protested the ruling, and was subsequently arrested and forbidden from crossing the Green Line into Israel.
So the next time the two wish to meet they will have to stand on either side of an IDF checkpoint, shouting to each other to be heard.
