Four mayors of cities in Israel were graciously hosted at the Chabad Jewish Center of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The mayors of Ramat Yishai, Modi’in, Binyamina-Givat Eda and Chazor Haglilit were the guests of the city’s Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Shliach Rabbi Berel Levertov and his wife Devorah hosted them for Shabbos meals.
After his Divrei Torah, he told them about the newly built Moise and Chelle Safra Mikvah that has not been put to use due to the lack of rain water (as required by halacha).
“A Farbrengen – gathering of Jews has a special power, and I ask you to join me in saying L’Chaim for rain,” Levertov suggested.
The guests happily complied, and over Shabbos light rain began, enough to fill up the Mikvah’s water pit.
During the first month of summer, Rabbi Levertov had a farbrengen for the same reason. The minute it was over it started to POUR! (it rained until 4 am, but was’nt enough to fill it up completely)
