Bais Rivkah Seminary in Crown Heights was pleased to announce Monday that their students “no longer need to seek credits elsewhere.”
A delegation from the American Council on Education (ACE), which recommends courses offered in post-secondary institutions for widely-accepted academic credits based on universal standards, visited the seminary to conduct a site review.
It was headed by Dr. Tim Mott, National Coordinator of ACE’s College Credit Recommendation Service and Father Rodger Hunter-Hall, a consultant to ACE.
They examined Bais Rivkah’s curricula in Limudei Kodesh (focusing specifically on courses in Chumash, Halacha, Chassidus and Bayis Yehudi) and in Educational Methodology, including course syllabi, texts, assessment tools and student work.
In their submitted report, the team wrote that students were “working above and beyond the level typical for lower division courses, especially in courses of Judaic study.”
Along with viewing classes in session, the team also met with the dean Mrs. Chana Gorowitz and interviewed staff members.
They were duly impressed with what they saw, noting the diverse background and extensive experience of the instructors and describing the lectures as “spirited and dynamic.”
Before leaving, one reviewer commented, “The high motivation of teachers and the motivation of students is a wonderful combination.”
The report submitted to the American Council on Education recommended that the courses offered at Bais Rivkah Seminary continue to be approved for credit. Students may earn up to 24 credits per semester.

Wake up and smell the coffee #12. I don’t know if you’re old fashioned but you definitely are not in tune to society. … These credits are surely given with the consent of Rabbanim and it’s just a bigger incentive for girls to go. The numbers proove it themselves. I was in Seminary 5 years ago. There were 5 girls in sem aleph and 8 girls in sem beis. Now my sister is there there are llike 30 girls in sem aleph and 60 in sem bais. And i’m sure it’s going to grow so much bigger… SO now you… Read more »
Actually what it’s doing is encouraging more girls to go to college – since you start off in a Kosher way by going to Beis Rivkah seminary – and then all you need is another 50 credits or so to finish off at touro / tti … If Beis Rivkah were really able to provide full college credits -that would give the girls their BA – that’s one thing… but to just give a few is a teaser and appetizer for really going to college. On another note – what happens to learning Lishma? When girls are going to seminary… Read more »
I was part of this program last year . It was incredible! The curriculum , teachers, staff are amazing! I gained more out of this one year than all my years in B. R high school. My only regret is that I didn’t join for sem aleph. If u have the opportunity of joining for both years I would definitely do that! Good luck and thank u bais Rivka seminary!
24 credits per sem is too little for a ba in 2 yrs
I wish there were credits when I was in seminary
I guess it took a while to get here, mazel tov
Great news for our girls, I guess the Sem will need
more class rooms to be able to accommodate
the influx of students, for years they have been talking
about credits and finally its here KOL HAKOVD
No need to go to Touro anymore,
I had no choice but to get credit at Touro,
I am so happy our girls can get NOW the same
credits at BAIS RIVKAH SEMINARY.

Rabbi Wolf teaches us. He is ammmmmazing! I’ve learned more in a few classes than in years! He is also so ‘down to earth’ and
non judgmental we are not embarrased to ask questions. Thanks beis rivkah for this opportunity.
Your hard work finally paid off! May Hashem bentch you to always see fruits in all your efforts.
Bais Rivkah is 10 years late, they were asked to do this years ago b4 all the girls began heading to real colleges.
