Cops nabbed a man for repeatedly breaking into a Brooklyn Heights synagogue, finally delivering the congregation from torment by the burglar — and it couldn’t have happened on a more auspicious day.
Rabbi Aaron Raskin, who heads congregation B’nai Avraham, was preparing for Purim, a holiday that celebrates another long-ago deliverance, on March 10, when police told him that they had cornered the suspect on Henry Street, near Pierrepont Street.
Already in costume for his shul’s annual holiday festivities, Raskin hopped into the squad car and positively ID’d the suspect.
“I was the ‘Man in the Yellow Hat’ from the Curious George books,” said Raskin, who had met the suspect years ago when he came to the synagogue for charity.
Since then, the man has been breaking into the synagogue every few weeks and stealing charity donation boxes. The most-recent crime was on March 4, cops said.
Not long after the arrest, Raskin received another call from the cops. “They said that [the suspect] wanted to talk to me, and that he was telling them he was my friend,” said Raskin. “With friends like that, who needs enemies?”
You made my point….”perhaps not as elaborately as today “
why does everyone have bad comments?
r u jealous?
forgien another!!
BS”D
I became involved in Chabad in tav shin mem tes and plenty of shluchim dressed up – perhaps not as elaborately as today because times were different but Purim was always Purim and the Chabad House was always the place to be.
I truly don’t believe that you where around in a Chabad House post Gimel Tammuz. I’m old enough to remember back in the 70’s, 80’s when Shluchim where active in being creative on Purim and other Yomim Tovim and no Shliach needed to exert himself to lure balebatim on Purim by engaging in foolish acts…There are clear answers from the Rebbe as how one must behave in Shlichus and im sorry but what its publicize on the net is not at all in the Rebbes directives.
have you been to chabad houses b4 gimel tamuz to know if people dressed up? Just because we didn’t have shmais, COLlive…. to publish photos doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. I grew up on Shlichus & yes my parents did dress up Purim – now WHAT EXACTLY IS WRONG with dressing up on Purim? People appreciate it & it encourages them to share the Simcha of Purim! Seems like you guys are bored & need to find people to criticize!
go get a life!
Purim was celebrated when the Rebbe was with us and Yes there where NON Frum People who came to Shul/Chabad Houses and NO RABBI OR SHLIACH DRESSED UP!! You don’t need to dress up to Mekarev people!! There is a level of respect that a Rav or Shliach must maintain…..
i agree with # 4 your that jealos of him give us your name and well wright something about you
yes because if you have a chabad house where people arent frum you have to show them the happieness of Purim
Is it proper for someone who calls himself/herself Rabbi /Rebbetzin Shliach/Shlucha to parade themselves in costumes??? Why was it when the Rebbe was with us never did we have Rabbis or their wives parade among their congregants with costumes?? Did Rabbi JJ Hecht a”h go around Purim dressed up?? Im not questioning Rabbi Raskin… im just questioning if its proper for someone who is officialy a Rabbi/Rav Shliach to act in this manner.
why ? caus you dont have such a good uncle like him
yes i would go by the rebbe with that comstume
what do u think happened with the clowns on lag baomer 1987 (yeshiva bochurim i might add)
i have no clue what u guys are thinking u guys are all bonkers
this is a article about a chabadnik whoever he is having success and beautiful video with teffilin on daily ny news
soo what if he has the same last name as you
did he do something wrong??
and correct we dont want to have a fire article
these comments are empty and wrong
to #2!! We are amazing! If your sooo jealous go marry one and then you’ll be all over the news lol!
think it is a bit inappropriate to have a monkey dangling from you when you are in the position that you are in.Is that how you represent Chabad?Would you wear that if you had to pass by the Rebbe on Purim?

Where did you learn how to spell perhaps rabbi raskin can teach you some spelling. And he may also find out what is bothering you so that you can enjoy life again.
I agree with #4.
