Homeless families who hit the jackpot by landing in luxury condos in Brooklyn shouldn’t get too comfortable, Mayor Bloomberg recommended today.
“We’re not going to let people just sit there. This is a transition thing. We want to move them out,” the mayor said of the spanking new unsold units in Crown Heights leased to a non-profit by a desperate developer.
“And if they say, ‘Oh, I love this here, I don’t want to try something else,’ I’m sorry, that’s not the whole intent here.”
Bloomberg pointed out that the city is getting a steal in the depressed market by paying $90 a night, or $2,700 a month, which is the going rate for much less fancy digs.
who said that they are paying 2,700 for a two bedroom i am sorry that they are paying less than that
Firstly, $2700/month is NOT the going rate in this area for a 2 bedroom apt. Luxxury or not!! Also, the only prob. I have with this whole thing, is the people who are getting these apts. are not going to be able to afford such digs when/if they become employed and get back on their feet. So there is no incentive for them to do so! Why should they work hard to pay rent for an old decrepit apt. when they can sit on their tushes and live in luxury??!
excuse me so why did the city come to the owners and said that they are taking this building for low income .
They cant take it away they have a contract with the city i happend to know the owner personenly.
He wanted to make that building for us but everyone said no one is going to move out here so he went ahead and build it
LOOK YOU SNOOZ YOU LOOSE.
