Thousands of Jews gathered this Sunday to take part in a community wide Parade in honor of Lag B’Omer.
The parade began at Bondi Park at 10am, the 12 psukim were said and the parade set out.
The parade was followed by a carnival in Barracluff Park near Mizrachi shul.
All the organizations represented themselves with beautiful floats, of course the Talmidim Hashluchim outdid themselves and, while keeping full learning seder made a most beautifull float representing mivtzoim throughout Sydney including mitzva tanks throughout the year.
It was indeed amazing to see the entire Hall street, from the ocean until Warners ave. full of Jewish children.
The police sent a full 50 peice marching band in full regalia to play Napolean’s march as the children joyfully marched publicly showing their pride to be Jewish, to identify with Torah and with Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.
The parade ended in the park with a carnival, rides, free petting zoo, booths and a special concert featuring renowned singer and Carlebach music superstar Chaim Dovid. Although the sun was out in full force, everyone sang and danced and rejoiced in the joy of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai and Lag B’omer.
Rabbi Pinchus Feldman, the Rebbe’s head shliach to NSW blessed the assembled and gave over words of inspiration and blessing.
A contest was held among the children to see who could produce the best banner, dozens of colourful and original entries were given in for judging. The whole of Sydney could agree that this was a day to remember.
The entire event was organized by Rabbi Elimelech Levy, Director of outreach of the Yeshiva center – Chabad headqaurters NSW who publicly thanked the many volounteers and especially the talmidim hashluchim who gave so much of their time and effort to make the parade the great success that it was!
